IEP Insights was created to give families a calm, knowledgeable partner as they navigate special education.
IEP meetings, evaluations, and school decisions can feel overwhelming. Many parents are trying to understand complex information, make important choices, and advocate for their child — often without clear guidance. My goal is to help families make sense of the process, understand what the information means, and feel confident moving forward.
Sara Gergurich holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Credential in Early Childhood Special Education. She spent 15 years with the San Marcos Unified School District, supporting children with mild to severe disabilities, including students who were medically fragile. Her work focused on assessing student needs, developing individualized education programs (IEPs), and ensuring services and supports were aligned with each child’s development.
Sara has extensive experience working within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with specialists such as Speech, OT, PT, APE, Vision, and other related services. Through her work in Early Intervention and beyond, she developed a comprehensive understanding of the special education process from initial intake and eligibility through annual reviews, program placement, and transitions. She has also supported students across elementary, middle, and high school settings through her work as an educational consultant and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
Families often come to IEP Insights when they want:
